The Samsung BD-C5500 from was released in 2010 and is one of Samsung’s most popular Bluray Players to date.
Featuring impressing loading times the BDC-5500 features a touch sensitive front panel for use if you can’t find the remote – the only problem being that there is insufficient feedback from the panel to confidently identify when your button has been pushed.
However the remote control is responsive and easy to use with larger buttons, so suitable for those people with larger hands and easier to handle in dim light.
The Samsung BDC-5500 is network enabled, but be careful because while it says Wifi ready, you do have to buy a wireless dongle to actually enable it. Failing that you can connect the BD-C5500 to the internet using a standard ethernet cable
If you have movies available in digital format and stored on a USB dongle then you will be able to play them on the BDC-5500 since Samsung have thoughtfully provided a built in USB slot (so long as the movie has been encoded correctly of course)
With excellent upscaling of regular DVDs to a high definition format perhaps the only drawback with the Samsung BD-C5500 is the noise it can make when switching between layers or tracks. But overall that is a small niggle for an excellent budget priced player.
